The
managed their first
clean sheet of the season beating Corby Ravens 5 - 0.
In an extremely competitive match,
Thrapston took control from the start with Jedd Whiteman scoring
after 5 minutes of play, following a good run from 40 yards
out and rounding the keeper. Thrapston kept the pressure on
with a succession of corners, but couldn't put the ball away
until a goalmouth scramble saw Jedd Whiteman add to his tally
after 10 minutes with a shot through a crowded penalty area.
Ravens tried to get back into the game,
with a couple of counter attacks that came to nothing, then
Thrapston hit their third with another excellent through ball
for Keiran Moore to run onto. The keeper looked like he had
got to the ball, but fumbled the save, leaving Keiran to slot
the ball home for the home sides third after 26 minutes. Half
time 3 - 0.
The second half saw Corby start the
brighter looking to get back in the game, but couldn't penetrate
the Thrapston defence, with Ryan Gavin having a particularly
good match. On 40 minutes, Jedd Whiteman accepted a through
pass, took the ball wide of the Ravens keeper and slotted
the ball home from an acute angle for his hat-trick and to
give the home side a 4 - 0 lead.
The Corby side, looking rattled, tried
to rally, but couldn't get passed a resolute Thrapston defence,
and Thrapston had a number of chances on the break but couldn't
finish them. With a minute of full time to go, Craig Mattingley
did manage to score, again a shot through a crowd of players.
One of the teams best performances this season. Final score
5 - 0.
