Under 10's Tornadoes Match Report - 28th September 2003 Vs Generals Blue

The Under 10's Tornadoes continued their winning run with a win over Generals Blue 1 - 2.

Autumnal leaves tumbled across the windswept Elysian Fields and the dying rays of an Indian summer palely bathed the theatre of dreams. Once more the faithful few were drawn by our addiction to pay homage to our mini marvels.

What footballing feast could we expect to be served with by our young heroes? Having been served the hors douvre of the first win of the season the previous week, appetites were high, but a stern test lay before them in the form of a very good Generals Blue. Delight – our food and drink for 40 minutes was to be ambrosia and nectar, good enough for gods, ample for mere mortals.

From the first whistle you could sense the steely determination through the team – steel forged by Vulcan himself. Tackles were purposeful, passing incisive and passions high - the Tornadoes stormed forward in a maelstrom of action, carving out some excellent chances. But once again it was our Apollo, Ryan Caller, who broke the deadlock muscling his way past bemused defenders to arrow a shot past the advancing keeper.

William Morrison commanding in the centre of midfield dictated the game, nullifying the threat of the dangerous Generals midfield whilst inspiring his willing cohorts Ross Munro and Cameron Glynn ever forwards.

However the next goal scored came from the Generals – a rare lapse in defensive responsibilities and missed tackles allowed the opposition to equalise. Commitment redoubled the Tornadoes resolved to prove their supremacy. A move springing from the depths of defense released Ryan Caller who once again showed his steady aim to fire home 2-1 and rightly so.

The second half was more equal as squad changes and tired legs unsteadied the ship. Defense became more prominent but our defensive trio Of Liam Carter, Mathew Hansord and Glenn Sorrell marshalled by our goal guardian Jordon Mahon defended their goal as Cerberus would the gates of Hades – they would not pass unless to enter the next world!

Ryan Wright and Graeme Wright threw their weight into the fray and worked unselfishly for the cause, but the fates were such that no further goals would be scored. A season’s best performance underlined the teams potential – aim for the stars and you can sometimes touch them?

Parents Player of the match: Mathew Hansord
