Under 10's Tornadoes Match Report - 2nd November 2003 vs Aztec Warriors

The Under 10's Tornadoes kept up their winning ways with a 3 - 0 victory over Aztec Warriors.

A win based on good footballing skill was just what the doctor ordered on a wet and blustery day, and the Tornadoes duly obliged. The hard work and lessons learnt on the training ground were evident from an early stage in the game with all players looking to pass and support each other, producing some delightful football that belied their tender age.

Ryan Caller opened up the Tornadoes account finishing off a fluent attack with consummate ease. Liam Carter calling on the fortunes of his (distant) Irish ancestry claimed the second goal when his fierce free kick was diverted into the net giving the Tornadoes a 2-0 lead.

2-0 at half time did not fairly reflect the Tornadoes dominance of the game with Jordon Mahon in goal a virtual spectator as his defenders Cameron Glynn and Liam Carter showed meanness, Scrooge would be proud of. The midfield of Ross Munro, William Morrison and Ryan Wright had completely subjugated their opponents and Ryan Caller was consistently threatening to tear the Warriors apart.

For the second half William Gadsby, Graeme Wright and Mathew Hansord were blooded. Defending downhill against the wind and with deteriorating conditions things became a lot tougher. The Aztecs also showed why they are “warriors” and came out fighting and came close several times to scoring. However the Tornadoes got back to grips with the game when Ross Munro thumped home a Shearer like header from a well-rehearsed corner for the Tornadoes third goal (it is believed Ross is still celebrating on his lap of honour!).

And so another win, this is becoming a very satisfactory season especially if we can build on our footballing skills. Today illustrated that practising the simple skills of pass – move – support pays off and makes the whole team much better. Well done all.

Parents Payer of the Match: Ryan Wright – non stop commitment for the team.
