There could hardly be a tougher opening match to a new season
than Ise Lodge Eagles who have a strong and well-drilled squad,
however with the rapid progress made over the last year, a
close fought game was anticipated.
It was the Tornadoes who made most of the early running with
some good flowing football which carved out early chances
for Graeme Wright, Ryan Caller and William Morrison, but to
no avail. As the first half wore on Ise Lodge gradually gained
momentum and they ominously took increasing control.
Ise Lodge created several good chances but were denied by
resolute Tornadoe defending with Mathew Hansord and Cameron
Glynn commanding at the heart of it all. The first half ended
0 – 0 in what was a finely balanced match.
The second half saw Ryan Wright make his debut, replacing
the hard working William Gadsby. Slightly against the run
of play Thrapston took the lead when from a well worked move
the debutante, Ryan Wright, finished clinically at the back
post with a rasping half volley.
This signalled Ise Lodge to step up the tempo and the game
became focussed around the Tornadoes goal area but Ise Lodge
were denied by mixture of good defence, the woodwork and some
outstanding saves by Jordon Mahon. Unfortunately, with just
2 minutes left Ise Lodge scored the equaliser, which in fairness
reflected their contribution to what was a skilful and very
competitive football match.
Well done to all the players who showed great commitment,
skill and determination - keep this up and we will have a
very rewarding season. Also thanks to all the parents who
turned up in good numbers to support the team – keep
it up.
