The were beaten 1
- 3 at home to Rothwell Aztec.
No match since early December seemed not to have dulled the
players desire for a win as the first half developed with
Thrapston pushing Higham back into there own danger area time
and again. Kyle Fox switching to the wing from central mid
field seemed to be paying off as Higham were kept under pressure
boxed in their own half unable to make any offensive headway.
Reece Evans although not as sharp as usual was still able
to outrun the defence and soon slotted the ball round the
keeper to make it 1-0.
As half time kept closer Higham raised their game and Thrapston
began to loose shape with defenders constantly having to scramble
back to thwart some good passing from the opposition. Under
pressure in front of goal Thrapston looked disorganised and
slow paying the price with Matthew Watts unable to stop a
shot across the goal to make it 1-1.
Numerous goal scoring chances came and went in the second
half with Kyle Fox making a great run only to hit the side
of the net. A long range free kick from Carlos Lewis had everyone
including the keeper beaten but just curled the wrong side
of the post. But it was not to be, Higham’s central
defence have to take credit for holding Reece to only one
goal given the many breaks he made.
Thrapston’s lack of shape eventually gave the opposition
the chances they needed as the game developed to take the
score to 1-3 at the final whistle.
