The won 7 - 0 at home
to Danesholme with Jack Rawcliffe scoring three and Reece
Evans four goals each.
With today's game having to be moved from the King John School
to Chancery Lane’s bigger pitch and the soft ground,
players strength and perseverance were clearly going to play
a part in the final result. So it was with Thrapston dominating
for long periods during the first half but unable to score,
not through lack of attempts at goal as both Jack Rawcliffe
and Reece Evans beat the defence on numerous occasions only
to be stopped by Danesholmes keeper,, or putting the ball
just wide of the post.
So many chances had to pay off and Jack finally beat the keeper
to make it 1-0, so it stayed till half time.
Despite the lack of goals the first half saw some of the best
football Thrapston have played all season with every player
getting 100% involved. Keeping their shape and good passing
resulted in some excellent football.
The second half saw a much more aggressive Danesholme determined
to pull the goal back during the first few minutes. Thrapston
took advantage as the opposition pushed forward, some good
long balls through from the mid field put Jack and Reece in
front of goal time and again. The half time talk did the job
as both improved their finishing in the second half, Jack
scoring twice more and Reece scoring four to make it 23 this
season so far.
Reece’s short corner played to Andrew Bird, back to
Reece, on to Kyle Fox, back to Reece again, by now in front
of goal, and its another goal to Thrapston, excellent football
lads, just one example of today’s fantastic 7-0 team
effort well done everyone.
