The drew 2 - 2 at
home to Woolaston.
A game of two halves in more ways than one saw Thrapston take
a two goal lead in the first half to draw two all at the final
whistle. A hard working Thrapston kept Woolaston at bay for
much of the first half with the team looking comfortably in
control. The first reward came as Reece Evans passed the ball
in across the goal for Carlos Lewis running in from the back
of the box to slot the ball home. Then came numerous chances
for a second goal with Kyle Fox hitting the post and Jordan
Ward chipping the Keeper to hit the cross bar. A high corner
from Carlos Lewis to the Back of the “D” saw an
unmarked Andrew Bird move forward to volley the ball over
the defenders and drop into the goal out of the keepers reach
to make it 2-0 at half time.
The second half saw Woolaston still keen to make an impression
taking the upper hand from the whistle. Thrapston lost shape
and confidence as the defence found them selves out of position
time and again. A magnificent Matthew Watts in goal repeatedly
frustrated Woolastons attacks finally being beaten by a penalty
in to the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-1. As the
whistle neared, Woolaston pushed forward again and with a
player clearly several yards off side thumped the ball in
for a second goal. Despite appeals from players and parents
the linesman’s flag stayed down. 2-2.
A disappointing result given the excellent commitment and
standard of play from the whole team during the first half.
Well done lads.
