The won 1 - 4 away
at Ferrers Colts.
After the grandeur of Rushden Rangers home ground last week,
complete with stadium, camera crew (ok so it was one man and
a camera) and changing rooms, the team found themselves on
the smallest pitch of the season at Ferrers Colts.
As the game got under way the post Christmas defeat by Ferrers
was soon forgotten as Reece Evans picked up a loose ball in
the 6 yard box and flicked the ball between several defenders
to add another goal to his tally. 0-1 with less than 5 minutes
on the clock. 2 minutes later the Keeper had no chance as
Andrew Bird made it 0-2 blasting in a long corner from Carlos
Lewis.
Constant pressure from Thrapston hindered Ferrers attempts
to push forward but several sharp moves saw them hit the bar
and only Paul Spicker with some goal line defending stopped
the goal difference from closing. Reece Evans made it 0-3
just before half time with a tap in from a well placed Kyle
Fox corner. At the half time whistle Thrapston were looking
more than comfortable.
Over confidence has come home to roost on a number of occasions
and today was nearly one of them as Ferrers came out attacking
and dominated most of the second half with their Keeper untroubled
for most of the 30 minutes. Despite hard work from Paul Spicker
and Jordan Ward at the back Ferrers finally got the goal they
deserved to make it 1-3. Great work from Matthew Watts kept
the score line steady until Carlos Lewis was brought down
in one of the few Thrapston offensive moves of the half. Having
put a free kick just wide of the post in the first half this
was inviting trouble, sure enough a well placed shot beat
the keeper as it cured away in to the top left. 1-4 at the
final whistle, well played lads, 9 goals for and 2 against
in the last two games, a great effort from everyone.
