A confident team, undefeated
with three wins behind them, the first home game on the King
John pitch, it should have been another game worth watching
for the Thrapston supporters. Corby Ravens clearly were not
reading the same script.
The opposition pushed forward right from the off and the first
signs did not look good for Thrapston but another typical
break by Reece Evans and Jack Rawcliffe saw Reece take the
first goal. 1-0 to Thrapston. Undeterred, Ravens pushed back
and within minutes won a penalty when a late tackle brought
one of their players down just in side the area. A driving
shot in to the top of the net made it 1-1. From then on Thrapston
were outclassed failing to stop the quick effective passing
between the Ravens players. 1-3 at half time.
The home team went out determined to pull back the difference
and the first few minutes of the second half saw the best
football of the game from Thrapston with flashes of inspiration
from Kyle Fox in midfield and some good work on the right
wing from Jordan Ward moving up from Defence to take up a
mid field position but a well organised Ravens defence put
stop to any chance of scoring. At the other end of the field
the Thrapston back four worked hard but any clearances were
constantly scooped up by the ever-present Ravens mid field
and returned into the Thrapston danger area all to often resulting
in another goal. Final result 1 - 11.
Lessons to be learnt and some hard work ahead for players
and Management if we are to keep our place in the table.
