Under 11's Match Report - 7th December 2003 Vs Ise Lodge Eagles

The Under 11's played a rearranged fixture and the switch paid off with Thrapston winning 1 - 0 at home to Ise Lodge Eagles.

For the first time this season the players pulled together as one for the full game with everyone putting in a fantastic work rate. Chasing every ball from the off, not giving an inch to the opposition in any quarter of the park, the goal tally should have been higher but all credit to the Eagles they gave as good as they got making for a nail biting 60 minutes.
Andy Bird and Reece Evans, well supported by all four midfielders kept the pressure on the Ise Lodge defence while a much improved Thrapston back four lead by Paul Spicker kept their calm and shape pushing each wave of attack back towards the half way line. Jordan Ward showing strength and agility finally found the opening Thrapston's top scorer was waiting for, pushing the ball fast through the Ise Lodge midfielders with a long pass down the left wing to Reece Evans, here was a lad determined to make up for last weeks missed penalty, a controlling touch on the turn, forward movement, long strides, defender beaten, still outside the box, Strike! The keeper had no chance as the ball arced down into the back of the net.

So finished the first half. 1-0. Ise Lodge came out determined to level the score in the second half but Jack Rawcliffe replacing Andy Bird up front supported by Callum Vorley at left midfield had other ideas. Using his outstanding speed Callum made run after run down the wing causing panic within the oppositions defence. With Kyle Fox working hard to make up the trio they were unlucky not to score a second.

Just as it looked as if the one goal was enough to clinch the three points, came the heart stopper of the game. A great dive from Matti Watts pushed the ball across his goal mouth towards the far post, but not enough to clear the goal and everyone held there breath as the ball ran parallel with, but only inches away from the goal line, Ise Lodge sprinted to tap in, Central Defender Daniel Smith was there first, clearing off the line. Well done Daniel, it does not get much closer than that!

An excellent effort from all the players with supporters getting a fantastic show. Well done.
