The were narrowly
beaten in their League Cup game at home to Grange United losing
4 - 5 on penalties after drawing the match 2 - 2.
A superb game of end-to-end football. A real cup tie!.
Thrapston defending strongly and not looking like the second
division side, were unlucky to go a goal behind from a cross
come shot that took the keeper by surprise. Half time 0 -
1.
Soon after the break Grange scored a second against the run
of play, but the home side kept their heads and pulled a goal
back when Ali Jones turned his marker and curled a right foot
shot low into the net. Thrapston with their tails up took
the game to Grange and were the better side late. Late on
they got their deserved equaliser when Chris Meadway took
advantage of a mix up and struck a right foot shot into the
corner. Full time 2 - 2 AET.
The penalties went to sudden death and Grange kept their
heads to win.
Both teams performed admirably.
