Another strong performance by the youngsters saw them extend their winning start
to the season.
The first half was a tense affair with both teams probing
one another’s defence. Charlie Coulson and Declan Ward
were both unlucky with shots well saved by the Rushden Keeper,
preventing Thrapston from opening the scoring. Thrapston started
the second half strongly with the Rushden keeper being called
into action immediately to prevent an opening goal, however
it was not long until the deadlock was broken, with Declan
Ward going on a great run down the left wing before crossing
to Charlie Coulson who buried the ball in the back of the
net. Rushden were then under constant pressure, Luke Stevens
was unlucky not to score when his free kick crashed against
the goalpost. The second Thrapston goal was of world class
standard. Declan Ward picked the ball up deep in his own half
before passing on to Jamie Gambrell who then found Charlie
Coulson in space on the right wing, Charlie took the ball
to the goal line before crossing for Jamie to finish. In the
dying seconds of the game Man of the Match Charlie Coulson
broke free again to score his second and Thrapston’s
third.
