The played their first
game in four weeks and managed a 1 - 4 win over Generals Blue.
After a two-week break, Thrapston returned to action to record
their first win of 2004.
With Thrapston starting brightly and playing some lovely
football, it took only 2 minutes for them to open the scoring,
a beautiful run by Charlie Coulson saw him beat a couple of
players before cutting inside and slotting the ball under
the Generals keeper. Thrapston only had to wait a couple of
minutes before they were two up when Luke Stevens broke and
calmly beat the keeper only to see the goal bound shot finished
by Jamie Gambrell for his third goal of the season. Thrapston
dominated for the remainder of the half although Generals
managed to pull a goal back just before halftime when a speculative
shot was deflected past the Thrapston keeper. Half-time Thrapston
2 Generals 1.
Thrapston again dominated the second half and it was not
long until Charlie Coulson extended the Thrapston lead with
another fine goal bringing his tally for the season to eleven.
Although 2 goals up Thrapston strived to look for further
goals and were duly rewarded when a shot from Jamie Gambrell
was deflected past a stranded Generals keeper.
Final Score Thrapston Town 4 – Generals Blue 1. Man
of the Match Charlie Coulson.
Manager’s comment: Our best performance for many a
week. A great example of everybody working as a team, to ensure
a return to winning ways.
