The lost their second
game in succession, this week to Weekley Rovers 1 - 3.
The question on everybody’s minds after today’s
loss was “Has the rot set in” ??
Another lacklustre performance by Thrapston saw them fall
to their second defeat on the trot 1 – 3 to a hardworking
Weekly Rovers. Thrapston started well but their defensive
frailties were soon exploited when Weekly scored from the
edge of the box, although Thrapston battled they very rarely
got out of their own half and an impressive run by Niall Mitchell
late in the first half was about the highlight from Thrapstons
point of view. Poor defending and marking allowed Weekly to
go in at half time 0 – 2 up.
A couple of Thrapston substitutions at half time seemed to
give a jolt to the system when Luke Stevens picked up the
ball by his own penalty box beat three Weekly players to unselfishly
cross to Josh Smikle to score in an unguarded net. However
poor marking again let Thrapston down when a good shot from
the edge of the box was in the net before the Thrapston keeper
even moved.
Final score Thrapston 1 Weekly Rovers 3.
A lot of hard work will be required at training this week
to reverse the current poor performances.
