The had a good victory
over Aztec Braves winning 1 - 6.
Thrapston went into this match with a limited squad of players
to choose from , with several squad members on extended winter
breaks. However this, in the end, did not matter as Thrapston
ran out victorious.
The first half was a bitty affair, In which neither side
really got to grips with the difficult playing conditions.
Thrapston’s opening goal was turned in by Sam Gallagher
from a Tom Alsop corner, and their second, an almost identical
effort again from a corner, this time converted by Luke Rivett,
a player fast establishing himself in the first team squad,
with goals aplenty.
The second half saw both teams competing well, and although
the Braves had numerous chances to shoot, they failed to work
Thrapston’s keeper Alex Vitue too hard. Second half
efforts from Rivett (again), Josh Cummins (2), as he rediscovered
his scoring boots, and Alsop provided a six goal cushion for
Thrapston, before the Braves got reward for their efforts,
with a late consolation.
All in all, a pleasing result for the yellows, with goals
coming from a variety of sources. The team should be in good
heart as they prepare for the visit of the Warriors next weekend.
Final score, Aztec Braves 1, Thrapston Town 6.
