The narrowly lost to
Weekley Black losing 0 - 1.
Well, it had to happen sometime. A performance and result,
about as welcome as an Englishman in Instanbul this weekend,
as Thrapston suffered their first defeat of the season.
Once through the ring of steel around the ground, it was
al-pay on the gate – the crowd talking only of missed
penalties, and over blown prima-donners before the game commenced,
as they stood in the Chilli breeze.
The tu-guys at the back for Weekley held firm throughout
the first half, and their keeper only had to rush-tu the rescue
on a couple of occasions. Chandler Abbott in the Thrapston
Goal was largely untroubled as the two midfields pittaed their
wits against each other. Half time Nil, Nil.
The second half started brightly for Weekley, When the Thrapston
defence fell for the Suker punch, waiting for each other to
clear, only to be kebabed by the onrushing forward, One nil.
The rest of the game saw Thrapston trying to force an equaliser,
without success despite efforts from Gallagher, Cummins &
Alsop. Issit ever going to go in we wondered. It wasn’t,
final score Weekley One, Thrapston nil.
How many more games like this before the Thrapston supporters
start to ask is Alsop the boss-for-us?
