The lost 1 - 3 to Aztec
Braves.
Revenge, so they say, is both sweet, and a dish best served
cold. If this is so, then the Thrapston side will be feeling
the chill, as the Braves gained revenge for two defeats at
the hands of Thrapston earlier in the season.
In difficult conditions, kicking against the wind in the
first half, Thrapston hardly got out of their half and were
continually pegged back by a determined Braves side. The things
that Thrapston have worked hard on this season – workrate,
getting men behind the ball, biting in the tackle, and passing
the ball were all lacking in the half, as Braves took a two,
nil lead into the break. How we miss our Stevie G!
Words of encouragement were issued at half time and the lads
resolved to put things right, but as the second half got under
way it was the Braves who broke away to score a third. Thrapston
had the balance of play during the second half, but failed
to work the Braves keeper hard. Liam Toon did grab a consolation
for Thrapston, but really it was little consolation, as time
and again Alex Vitue was called upon to make saves from breakaways
as Town were left 3v1 at the back.
Oh well, its only a game, and we cant play well every week,
but this result has been coming for a few weeks now. Greater
workrate and tackling from our midfield is required over the
remainder of the season, so that the season as a whole can
be viewed as a real success.
Final score Thrapston 1, Aztec Braves 3.
