The managed
a 1 - 1 draw against Valley Park Rangers. In an evenly matched
game it was Thrapston that took the lead mid way through the
first half after a good move down the right, Ryan Gavin finishing
off well. Rangers pushed for the equaliser but some stout
defending by Josh Catchpole and good saves by Town keeper
Oliver Ventham kept them at bay. The second half saw Valley
Park draw level within ten minutes of the restart and should
have scored a further two was it not for another couple of
saves by the Thrapston keeper. Thrapston had a couple of chances
and with five minutes to go Thrapston had the ball in the
net only for Ryan Gavin to be judged offside. Final score
1 - 1.
The lost
2 - 0 away at Higham Town. The first half was a scrappy affair
and ended goalless. The second half saw Higham score with
a break away goal and from a corner. Final score 2 - 0.
The lost 1 - 2 at home
to Rothwell Aztec with Chris Meadway getting Thrapston's only
goal.
The ended
their league season with a 2 -1 win away at Weekley Rovers.
Thrapston went into their last ever league game knowing that
they needed a win to keep the pressure on Finedon in the race
for the league title. Thrapston’s campaign took a sudden
drop as Thrapston’s defence failed to clear a cross
which Weekley took advantage of and took the lead. Thrapston’s
heads dropped, and with the luck against them chances were
missed. Thrapston went into the second half with a new attitude
and pressured Weekley, and it eventually paid off with a Duncan
Charles shot which was deflected and Thrapston were even.
Thrapston kept the pressure on and 10 mins from time a penalty
award was given and Dean Barber, always reliable from the
penalty spot, converted to put Thrapston ahead. Thrapston
played the last 10 mins with confidence and fought off Weekley
as a team, to cap off a brilliant 7 years. Now Thrapston have
to sit and hope to see how the outcome of the final year finishes.
