Grange United B 6 - Thrapston Town Blues 0
The supporters could be forgiven for forgetting
what a good first half Thrapston had in this match.
Plenty of determination, kicking uphill against a Grange
B team who oozed speed in attack.
The 1-1 half time score was inspiring, Thrapston conceding
from a short corner and shot from the edge of the box in the
first 2 minutes.
A similar effort from Tom Alsop, made the scores level, and
when the half time whistle blew, the crowd was excited.
The coaches brief was made for the second half, and the half
time refreshments were drunk. Twenty minutes later we would
be thinking those drinks had been got at, as the Thrapston
side got taught a stiff lesson of football from the Grange
side.
Poor passing, tackling, defending and goalkeeping ensued,
as the team lost all composure and capitulated ( Richard wanted
that word in ), in front of the stunned support.
5 more goals were conceded in a second half that saw Town
only have long attempts at goal.
Was it the early start, or late nights before ?,
Did the team listen to the half time team talk, or were they
thinking about Sunday Lunch ?
What this defeat showed us again, is that without effort,
teamwork, and listening to the gaffer from ALL players, we
are exposed against the stronger teams.
Can the Blues turn this round for the tough match vs Ise
Lodge next week ?
Only time will tell,
Come on you Blues.
