Thrapston Town 1 - Aztec Warriors 3
It has been a week of events, The Ukranian leadership
contest, Another Prince Charles gaffe, A new series of I’m
a celebrity starting, and on a sporting nature, The Zimbabwe
Cricket fiasco, Another Manchester United win and Fergies
1000th game in charge. The other important thing in Football
has been the ‘wobble’. Arsenal are currently going
like a jelly, and too it seems is the Under 10 Blues which
back to back defeats against reasonably strong teams shows.
This match started well with good battling midfield and defence
performances from both teams. Thrapston probably had the better
of the attack with 4 or 5 first half corners that were squandered
with poor deliveries.
At half time 0-0 was probably reasonably fair with few clear
cut chances, Rothwell being kept mainly to long range efforts
that failed to trouble the Thrapston keeper. The first five
of the second half was more of the same, although more space
was being left in the centre of the park with weary legs.
A through ball from the Rothwell Midfield found the opposing
striker, and with the Thrapston defence asleep and only the
keeper to beat the first goal was scored. Immediately from
the kick off, Thrapston received a free kick for a foul on
Alsop near the edge of the box. A curling ball towards the
back post bobbled about, found the head of King, and the final
touch in from Liam Toon to equalise. This should have inspired
the Town, but time and again, the defence ended up 3 vs 1
with Rothwell players coming in droves behind. 2 more quick
goals secured the win for Rothwell, deserved for their second
half performance.
This was the last game before the Christmas break.
Aresenal will continue to wobble, Man Utd continue to win,
for the Under 10’s Blues the next match in the new year
is against Burton Youth, probably the strongest side in the
league to date. Lets hope that our ‘wobble ‘ is
over .
Come on team – Thrapston Wobble but they don’t
fall down.
Final Score – Thrapston Under 10 Blue -1 Rothwell Aztec
Warriors – 3
Merry Xmas.
