Thrapston Town Blue – 3 Finedon Vics
– 2
The return match from last weeks win against Finedon, so
soon after that victory should have been a more one sided
affair.
Early second half action, saw little interest in the ball
from some of the Thrapston players, and only spurts of good
passing and skill between the forward line, got Town ahead.
A sweet placed finish from Alsop, being the product of good
passing between himself and Chandler-Abbott ( playing much
better now that Ronaldo is ). Ben Robinson picked off the
second, 1 of many chances, and Chandler Abbott spectacularly
shot from 20 yds to claim the third. Thrapston were under
pressure defensively though, with Josh Scarbrow feeling an
injury early on, and Alex ( yes it was a kebab last week )
Vitue, rushing out to make several key challenges. A long
throw from the Vics over the town defence, found an unmarked
Vics striker, who slammed against the post. The rebound fell
to another unmarked Vics player who slammed the ball into
the empty net.
3-1 at half time – Harsh words from the manager about
effort and marking.
The second half saw plenty of chances for the town to increase
their lead and put the game way out of reach. They came and
went, came and went, and as tends to happen the Vics struck
back to make it 3-2. A long goal kick bounced over the Thrapston
midfield and defence to leave the pressure on. The ball hit
the net, and Thrapston were to remain under pressure for the
last 5 minutes of the game. Thrapston held on, to record another
victory in this last season of friendlies. – Final Score
3-2
Football is a game of skill and determination, and everybody
has heroes and their favourite teams.
At this age group you see a lot of the lads trying to emulate
their heroes, and copy what their team had done the previous
day.
This week the Great Manchester United are to take on Arsenal
– Tuesday 7pm Sky Sports 1.
This will be a game where anyone, no matter who they support
can watch and learn from.
Yes even the great Steven Gerrard watched Manchester United
yesterday against Middlesborough, as he didn’t have
a game himself.
Tough game for the town next week against Grange –
Come on the Under 10 Blues.
