Kettering Generals Red 6 v Thrapston Town Juniors
3
This report is brief to reflect the positive points in this
match.
1. The first 5 minutes where we threatened to tear the Generals
apart and took a 1-0 lead and the 55th to 57th minutes where
we threatened to make like Lazarus and come back from the
dead.
2. Matty Hansord in goal who performed heroically and stopped
an avalanche of goals against.
3. Ryan Caller, although performing well below his standards,
completing yet another hatrick.
The majority of this match was one-sided as Generals won
all the individual battles over the field and with that the
war. Thrapston failed to show consistentency in skill, determination
or application and if it was not for an outstanding goalkeeping
performance would have conceded far more goals.
A brief spark of hope in the final five minutes when against
the tide of play we pulled back to 4-3, only to suffer the
disappointment of gifting two soft goals to put the result
beyond doubt.
Lessons to be learnt – the list is still being compiled
- but to go down without a fight is not what we have come
to expect or accept. Do not kid ourselves that we nearly clawed
our way back into this match, we were comprehensively second
best today but the joy is that there is always the next time
to prove our qualities.
