Corby Kingswood 6 - ThrapstonTown 1
A shaky defence marred a better start by the
Thrapston forwards. A chance almost straight from kick off
resulted in a corner to Thrapston. Corby made a good clearance,
threading the ball through to poorly marked forwards who almost
scored themselves.
A subsequent similar run by Corby resulted in their first
goal; a second goal was to follow when Kingswood made the
best of another string of passes. A third goal came from a
goalmouth scramble after a Corby corner.
Despite excellent running and passing by Jordan Ward and
Patrick Goulbourn down Corby’s right hand half creating
several chances at goal a consolation in the first half was
not to materialise.
Another two goals came for Corby before the half time whistle
blew, the half ending at 5 – 0 to Corby.
The second half started with Thrapston still determined to
get back into the match with Reece having a shot on goal saved
and a similar shot saved again after an inspirational pass
from Luke Cottage. A Thrapston substitution came shortly after
with Callum McDermott making way for Andy Bird, Andy was to
prove influential in tackling and holding the ball (even at
one point on his own against 3 players) allowing the Thrapston
forwards to move up-field.
Patrick and Luke Cottage were to be substituted for Callum
Vorley and Kyle Fox.
Despite some outstanding saves from Matty, Corby managed
to get their sixth goal.
Callum Vorley made a run down the left hand wing after a
long clearance from the goalkeeper, with a skilful pass to
Reece allowed a consolation goal to be gained.
Thrapston`s game improved still further against a slowing
Corby for the last 10 minutes a back heel under pressure from
Paul Spicker almost released Carlos on goal for a second but
the ball ended in the keepers hands.
The game ended with no further goals at 6 –1 to Corby
Kingswood.
