Rothwell Aztec 7 - Thrapston Town 3
A good start this time by Thrapston containing
much of the early play in the midfield area although one early
lapse allowed Rothwell through on goal with the resulting
shot luckily just over the Thrapston bar.
Rothwell managed to compose themselves later in the half
and inevitably after several breaks scored when several of
their players in key positions were left unmarked a similar
goal was repeated shortly after putting Rothwell 2-0 up.
Thrapston fought back with a chance created and taken by
Paul Spicker just wide of the Aztec’s goal followed
by a half chance shortly after.
A good first half where it could have been possible with
greater commitment to have drawn the half.
In the second half an early slip by Thrapston allowed Rothwell
to score again however Thrapston quickly pushed back with
Jordon making a run down the right wing forcing a corner.
Rothwell gained another goal by breaking through with yet
again unmarked player being allowed easy passes. 4-0 to Rothwell.
A goal to Thrapston came when a right wing break as Jordon
passed to Patrick inside who quickly passed the ball to Carlos
allowing a free shot that was saved but dropped by the Rothwell
keeper and collected by Luke Cottage who placed the ball into
the net 4-1. Two more goals would be gained by Rothwell before
Thrapston had another chance with a through ball to Kyle who
tricked the keeper to score Thrapston`s 2nd.
Another last goal was to come for Rothwell before their keeper
made a poor clearance after being put under pressure from
Patrick with the ball landing straight at Carlos’s feet
a long shot resulted in Thrapston 3rd goal.
The game ended at 7-3 to Rothwell.
