Thrapston went into their second semi-final
in two years with great expectation hoping they could repeat
last year’s success and win through to successive finals.
Thrapston started the match in fine fashion
and within 5 mins of kick off they were 1-0 up after Mark
Spicker took the ball round the keeper to slot home. The lead
stood for 15 mins when Thrapston failed to clear from a corner
allowing Danesholme to draw level against the run of play.
Thrapston’s heads did not drop and after some good football
on the right, a long cross clearing the keeper was bundled
over the line by Mark Spicker, scoring his second. Dean Barber
soon added to the tally after the keeper fumbled to give Thrapston
a two goal cushion at half time.
Thrapston went into the second half with the
aim of keeping their lead and after 20 mins extended the lead
even further when Dean Barber’s shot went into the roof
of the net. Danesholme scored a consolation but Thrapston
defended well to keep their lead and the game ended 4 -2.
With Thrapston now in the final at Rushden &
Diamonds in May, it is hoped the team can make up for losing
in last season's Under 15's final.
