It was one of those games in which you came away thinking
how did we not win. Having the lions share of possession and
hitting the woodwork on at least three occasions Thrapston
came away feeling thinking “what did we have to do to
score” ???. As it was, Aztec scored both of the goals
! ! !
The first half saw Thrapston dominate although due to the
woodwork and an outstanding display by the Aztec keeper were
unable to convert the dominance into goals, Man of the Match
Matthew Smith was to instigate the majority of chances although
Ryan Watkin and Connor Ryan also had good opportunities throughout
the half.
With a couple of changes made by Thrapston at half time,
Aztec fought back and took a shock lead when a they broke
away and scored. Thrapston raised their game but a well-marshalled
defence looked like keeping Thrapston from scoring, however
with the final minutes approaching a speculative shot from
Jamie Gambrell took a deflection which left the Aztec keeper
stranded.
