Both teams started the game well and played some neat and
tidy football. Ise Lodge seemed to just have the upper hand
though and after approximately 8 minutes Ise Lodge were awarded
a penalty. However Thrapston survived as the spot kick was
blasted over the bar. Both teams continued to play good football
and Luke Stevens was unlucky not to equalise, when after beating
two players was unable to beat the keeper. Ise Lodge were
the first to break the deadlock when they broke free and beat
the Thrapston keeper Jake Hankins. Unlike last week Thrapston
continued to battle and were rewarded when Declan Ward scored
with a superb lob from the half way line to equalise. Thrapston
then stepped up a gear and kept the pressure on, and Man of
the Match Jamie Gambrell put Thrapston into the lead when
he scored beating the keeper at the near post.
Half Time Thrapston Town 2 – 1 Ise Lodge Kites
Thrapston started the second half slowly and were put under
a lot of pressure by a hard working Ise Lodge team, some good
defending by Niall Mitchell and Jordan Knox (on his debut)
prevented any early breaches. Thrapston managed to produce
some good football and won a corner from which Declan Ward
scored his second with a bit of help from the defenders foot.
Ise Lodge did not give up and were rewarded with a second
goal with a fine shot from just inside the box. The game was
then very much end to end with both teams having good chances
to score. Thrapston supporters were holding there breath towards
the final seconds of the game but the defence held out and
Thrapston gained a hard fought and deserved victory.
