In a competitive and flowing game Thrapston lost by the odd
goal to a hard working Ise Lodge team.
Thrapston started well and from a free kick delivered by
Luke Stevens, Jamie Gambrell was on hand to finish after the
goalkeeper had been unlucky not to hold the shot. Although
Thrapston played well they were unable to put any real pressure
on the Ise Lodge defence, in fact towards the end of the half
Ise Lodge looked the stronger team and it took a wonderful
save from man of the match Josh Smikle to deny them an equaliser.
Sadly Thrapston lacked desire and energy in the second half.
Whether the equaliser shortly after the start of the second
half took the wind from their sails we do not know, however,
Thrapston struggled to get out of their own half and never
looked like threatening the Ise Lodge goal. Mid way through
the second half poor defensive play and lack of bite in the
tackle allowed Ise Lodge to score their second and what turned
out to be the decisive goal.
