The crowd left the game thinking was this Thrapston Town we
had just seen play ?? After some excellent performances in
recent weeks, the team that turned up today was a shadow of
is former self. Was it the sleep in the eyes or the dreams
of summer sun, but whatever it was the players just weren’t
at the game.
A strong and well-organized Braves worked hard as a unit
and were able to shut down any forward attacks Thrapston tried
to put together. Too much selfish play by Thrapston prevented
them from creating any goal scoring opportunities, lack of
vision and passing stifled any chances that Thrapston had.
Fortunately right on half time Thrapston were awarded a free
kick on the edge of the box, and the only highlight of the
game was the Beckham finish provided by Luke Stevens.
The stern half time team talk fell on deaf ears as the second
half was much the same as the first with the low-light being
no communication between defender and goalkeeper, which allowed
the Braves striker to pounce on the ball and score leaving
Thrapston looking at one another. In the past this has galvanized
Thrapston into action, but that was not to be today.
Managers note:- All together a poor performance. The selfishness
of some players needs addressing at training in the weeks
ahead if we are to move forward and play to our full potential.
