The comfortably beat South
Rushden 2 - 9 away. Thrapston’s excellent shape during
the first half saw them play their best football this season,
dominating much of the play and despite Rushden hitting the
wood work twice, once they conceded their first goal the quality
of play from the Thrapston team was unstoppable. Goals soon
came from Paul Spicker, Jordan Ward (2) Reece Evans (2) and
one from newcomer Hayden Johns with his first touch of the
ball. 6-0 at half time. Rushden came back with a goal in the
second half and clawed another back after a Thrapston own
goal but 2 more from Jack Rawcliffe and another from Reece
made it 9-2 at the whistle.
The were
narrowly beaten 1 - 2 at home to Cottingham. With two teams
looking for their first points of the season, it was Thrapston
that started the brightest but failing to take their chances.
Cottingham did press on a couple of occasions but resolute
defending kept them at bay. Mid-way through the first half
Kai Robinson headed home from a cross by Keith Boyle giving
the home side a deserved lead. Half time 1 - 0. The second
half saw Cottingham step up a gear and scored from a corner,
and then from open play to take the lead 1 -2. Thrapston tried
to level the game, but couldn’t finish their chances.
Final score 1- 2.
The game
against Higham Town has been postponed by Higham.
The continued their winning
start to the season with a 0 - 4 away win at Kettering Orchard
Park. Sean Fox, Chris Meadway and two from Sam Gough sealed
the points.
