It’s matches like this that make it all worthwhile
giving your Sunday mornings up for!
Thrapston were “up for it” from the word go as
we knew it would be a tough game against a previously unbeaten
Raunds side. The first half was an evenly matched affair with
both teams missing chances. Some great goal keeping from Josh
Smikle kept the result at half time 0 – 0.
Second half we were kicking down-hill. Again both teams having
chances to score, however, only a top-drawer save by Josh
Smikle, tipping the ball onto the crossbar, denied Raunds
the lead. Thrapston then began to find their second wind and
applied pressure to the Raunds goal………..then
came the all important moment, when former Raunds Tiger player
“Connor “Gatesy” Gates had a shot which
the Raunds keeper fumbled but, no worries, “Man of the
Match” Luke Stevens was on hand to pounce on the lose
ball and bury into the back of the net.
Well done everybody, a brilliant game – Keep it up !!
