68 seconds was all it took for Thrapston to open their goal
scoring account for 2006 with Ryan Watkin calmly slotting
the ball under the Weekly keeper, from then on Thrapston played
as a unit with the front 3 of Watkin, Smith and Connor Ryan
linking up to produce some lovely football. Thrapston went
further ahead when in the 4th minute Connor Ryan picked the
ball up just in the Weekly half and headed for the goal and
shot superbly past the Weekly keeper who was well beaten.
Man of the Match Matthew Smith had the beating of the Weekly
left back every time and was unlucky not to score when a crisp
shot, which deserved to be a goal, hit the bar.
Thrapston started the second half slowly and Weekly began
to push forward, this created some extra space which Matthew
Smith was to utilise and following a “Gary Neville”
type run from Jordan Knox (right back) who then crossed to
find Matthew Smith unmarked to score. A minute later Thrapston
had their fourth when Ryan Watkin crossed and again Matthew
Smith slid in to score his second, Thrapston then began to
get over confident and Weekly tried to press again to get
back into the game, however, only a good save by the Thrapston
keeper and some poor finishing by Weekly stopped them from
scoring, Thrapston wrapped up the game, when, 5 minutes from
time Connor Ryan scored his 2nd and Thrapstons fifth.
