Although Thrapston continued their unbeaten run, today’s
performance woeful and probably the worst of the season.
Ambition, motivation, was missing and it looked like we had
never played together as a team before. The only player who
can hold their head up this week is Connor Ryan who after
missing a number of weeks with a broken toe fully deserved
the Man of the Match award for his first half performance.
In a poor first half Thrapston were saved by some good goalkeeping
from Josh Smikle who from a poorly defended corner managed
to tip the ball onto the bar then the post before clutching
it to his chest.
After a couple of changes at half time Thrapston began to
spark but the flame never ignited and in the end it fizzled
out into a below par performance and a draw. Anybody watching
must have wished they had stayed in bed rather than freeze
on the sidelines.
Thankfully the Xmas break has now arrived which will enable
us to recharge batteries look at ourselves and work on our
game before coming out firing on all cylinder for the second
half of the season.
