Right from the opening whistle it was clear that Thrapston
were struggling defensively and all that had been practiced
at training the previous day went out through the window,
as poor marking and rash tackling enabled Ise Lodge to push
forward with little regard to defending their own goal due
to Thrapston having to get 6 men behind the ball to prevent
a goal feast.
However a couple of substitutions in the middle of the first
half saw some normality return and Thrapston began to play
some good football which allowed Man of the Match Connor “Gatesy”
Gates to open his goal scoring account for Thrapston with
a precise bullet header from a cross supplied by Luke Stevens.
From Thrapstons point of view this was the highlight of the
half.
Half Time: Thrapston1 – Ise Lodge 2
The second half saw little improvement in Thrapstons performance,
infact at time Thrapston looked very lacklustre and some players
need to question whether they gave their all. Ise Lodge took
full advantage and scored a further three goals, “Gatesy”
was unlucky not to add a second when another excellent header
from a Connor Ryan cross-flashed just wide of the Ise Lodge
post.
