Two defensive mistakes cost Thrapston the game on a blustery
Sunday morning.
Thrapston started the game strongly with some good interlinking
play between Declan Ward and Connor Gates, Although having
plenty of possession in the oppositions half Thrapston could
not create a clear goal scoring opportunity, which later on
in the game they were punished severely for.
The second half started much the same as the first with Thrapston
applying the pressure to the Generals goal however that’s
all it was. Then the first of the mistakes, Thrapston had
a throw in half way in their own half which they took poorly
enabling Generals to beat the left back before crossing to
the striker who was a yard quicker to the ball, than the covering
defender - one nil. Minutes later from a corner Thrapston
goalkeeper was all at sea and again poor defensive covering
allowed the Generals to score.
Unless Thrapston can convert some of the many chances they
create we will always struggle to beat teams who we can match
with ability and skill, the difference being is they can finish
we can’t ! !
