Both side were evenly matched for the majority of the first
half with a lot of the play being in the middle third of the
pitch, However as the half progressed Ise Lodge began to create
more chances and only excellent goalkeeping by Man of the
Match Josh Smikle kept the score level at 0 – 0 when
the first half drew to a close.
The second half started with Ise Lodge continuing to pressure
the Thrapston goal however some strong defensive play by Jamie
Gambrell and Jordan Knox along with a some further great saves
prevented Ise Lodge from scoring. Thrapston then began to
fight back and opened the scoring when “Gatesy”
scored his second goal in as many games with a right foot
shot that left the keeper with no chance. Within minutes Thrapston
were two up when Ryan Watkin slid in with a defender and managed
to poke the ball passed the keeper who had to watch the ball
just (and I mean just) trickle across the line.
An excellent team performance, with lots of hard work by
all. Well done.
