Oh dear, this performance was about as welcome
as a guest appearance from Gary Neville in the Huyton branch
of the LFC supporters club.(Ed – as welcome as GN would
have sufficed – he’s not welcome most places)
On a day that demanded that Thrapston step up their game
to challenge one of the best teams in the league they simply
were unable, conceding five, but in truth getting away light.
Many players will recognise that they put in their poorest
performance of the season, individually and as a team today
and got what they deserved from the match. Central defensive
frailty and the lack of a strong tackling presence in midfield
were cruelly exposed today and we must find the answers to
turn this around and start getting the results that are needed
if we want to even think about first division football next
season.
So as the big clubs return to European action this week,
the TTJFC Under 11s must contemplate what they want to get
from this season. Next weekend should see the return on a
number of first team regulars from holiday/illness and changes
must be made to arrest the decline.
Final Score, Thrapston Town Nul, Kestrels Five
PS As our season will be finished by the end of April, Northants
play Gloucestershire in the county championship on 13th May
in case anyone needs to find a sporting activity that they
have an interest in, now that the FA cup is taking shape.
