Rothwell Aztec 1 v Thrapston Town 1
The town travelled in good heart to the Azteca
stadium, following victory last weekend. They had decided
that for the rest of this season whatever will be, will be.
Only it won’t, because they’ve dropped out of
the league, and Town are three points worse off as a result
- Que Será, Será!
Grand Master Flash clearly doesn’t have a contract
with the Education Authority; as the sides stepped out, there
wasn’t a white line in sight, on a very small pitch,
which was to play a part in condensing the play.
The game got under way, and quickly became a midfield battle,
with very few chances created. Just as Thrapston began to
feel that they had done enough against the wind in the first
half, a defensive mix up gifted the opener to the Aztecs.
That’s how it stayed until the break.
In to the second half; more of the same, with very few chances
created. In truth the Aztecs looked the more likely to score
on the break, while Thrapston held the balance of play up
to the edge of the Aztec box, but created little in the way
of chances.
Then from nothing a wonderful move. Interplay between Josh
Cummins and Devante Hodgson, created an opportunity for Luke
Rivett who supplied a superb finish from the edge of the box,
giving the keeper no chance. Quality which the side know they
are capable of and a goal which edges Rivett ever closer to
the top goal scorer mantle.
And that’s how it ended. Thrapston will take this point
against a good side, but as one wily old sage, who moaned
throughout the match observed, they need to do the basics
better – foul throws shouldn’t be a feature, and
a number of players need to start to try and head the ball
– it wont hurt – honest!!
Onwards and upwards as we look to clip the Falcons wings
next time out.
Final score Rothwell Aztec One, Thrapston Town One.
MOTM – A faultless display at the heart of the defence,
marking his return to form and fitness, the MOTM award was
given the Sam Gallagher.
