With spring’s arrival came a drier bumpier pitch and
a wind running from end to end which meant that attractive
football was difficult today.
A win was achieved, without the side playing well, which
is often said to be the mark of a decent side. What it isn’t
though is good for the blood pressure of the assembled coaches
and spectators, as the bumpy pitch or wind didn’t miss
three open goals!
Thrapston took the lead mid way through the first half, battling
against the wind, when a decent move was converted well by
Luke Rivett. In the second half the ball just kept running
away from the town when they attacked and in the end they
just had a second from Lewis Burton to show for their efforts;
another well taken effort, albeit with a little help from
the Falcon’s keeper.
So, something of a one off, given the conditions, and that’s
three unbeaten for the Town as they begin their assault on
the summit, or at least half way, before the season’s
end. With two games in the next week, the opportunities to
climb are there, so don the crampons, tidy up the base camp,
refill with oxygen and make that assault.
Final score Thrapston Town two, Ise Lodge Falcons Nul.
