Gramarrians 1 v Thrapston Town 4
A mid week sports special to savour as the town
cruised to victory over the Grammarians.
While some took the scenic route, others were in situ in
good time for the start of this exciting encounter. On probably
the best surface enjoyed this season, on a big pitch which
helped the passing game, Thrapston excelled in both the battling
and creative departments tonight, as they sealed what was
in the end a comfortable victory.
The game started with Thrapston in the ascendancy. No SAS
for us, but a DLT – no not the hairy cornflake, but
Devante, Luke and Tom, in harness as an attacking three -enough
to frighten any defence on tonight’s form.
Thrapston opened the scoring early on – a good ball
out wide from Hodgson, a neat cross from Alsop, and the finish,
cool as ever from Rivett, one nil. Soon it was two as Hodgson
converted another Town attack. A number of excellent Harvey
Chandler Abbott corners deserved to be converted, but weren’t
and therefore that’s how it stayed until half time,
with the resolute back four of Josh Scarbrow, Eric Curtis,
Connor Morson and Alex Noakes rarely troubled.
In the second half Grammarians came out blazing, and a great
goal arrowed in the top corner from the edge of the box, got
them back in to the game. For 15 minutes the game hung in
the balance, until top scorer Tom (should that be Fernando)
Alsop scored his first goal since November, and followed it
up with a well taken second to secure the points for Thrapston.
Four games unbeaten now, and the climb in underway. Roll
on Sunday and the Colts!!
Final score Grammarians one, Thrapston Town Four
MOTM – On as substitute, and for a display of determination
and excellent distribution, the MOTM award went to Liam Toon.
