Thrapston clawed their way to a draw to at least halt their
current slide in results.
The game to begin with was well balanced with the Thrapston
duo of Caller and Palmer looking very dangerous and they created
some good openings without finding the killer blow. But Generals
were to find their composure and were unlucky not to be awarded
a penalty for an over boisterous challenge.
Thrapston took the lead slightly against the run of play
when Palmer thumped a loose ball through the crowd that the
keeper could only parry into the net.
The second half was pretty much one-way traffic with the
Generals setting up camp in the Thrapston half. It was a matter
of time before Thrapston’s extended luck ran out and
they conceded from a long-range effort.
Thrapston rallied and missed two late gilt edged chances
but it would have been a travesty if they had taken all the
points.
