The second half of the season kicked off with Thrapston not having
played for several weeks. Danesholme seemed to be in high
spirits before the start after winning the previous meeting
4-8, the only team to have beaten Thrapston in the league
this season. 70 minutes of play later and Thrapston had moved
to 2nd in the table knocking Danesholme down to 3rd after
a superb effort from all the lads.
Difficult pitch conditions made it hard work for Jack Rawcliffe
and Reece Evans to take advantage of good through balls in
the first 10 minutes when Thrapston dominated the play. As
the team adjusted to a small pitch and out passed Daneshlome
Jack Rawcliffe took the first of his four goals.
An indirect free kick inside Thrapston’s 18-yard box
looked as if it could change the flow of the game but Carlos
Lewis blocked the ball on the goal line to stop one of the
few shots Danesholme had on target.
Strong defending from Keeper Andy Bird pulling off a couple
of spectacular saves supported by Matti Watts, Ryan Kirk,
Will Anns and Kyle Fox feeding the rest of the team with opening
moves gave Thrapston much of the possession but it took almost
another 20 minutes before Jack made it 0-2 to complete the
first half scoring. Despite the Thrapston domination Danesholme
looked capable of striking back at any time keeping the Thrapston
central defence working hard with the occasional break.
The best team effort of the season saw Jack take 2 more in
the second half with Reece Evans finally scoring after numerous
close attempts, lobbing the Keeper in the last minute to make
it 0-5.
