The top two teams met on a horrible surface
and in horrible weather Thrapston went ahead early through
Chris Meadway’s well taken break away goal. A physical
Finedon fought back and late in the half equalized again with
a well taken goal following some hesitant defending.
The second half started as the first with Meadway heading
Thrapston in front after a fine run and cross from Steve Wildman.
Thrapston started to take a grip in midfield David Cunningham
notably nullifying Finedon’s best player with an outstanding
performance. It was Cunningham who made the 3rd goal winning
the ball in midfield and slotting a perfect ball through for
Meadway to run on to beating the defender and then slotting
home. Town went four up with a goal from Cunningham to round
of his great afternoon slotting home after a corner.
Finedon scored a 2nd late on to make the finish a little
nerve wracking but overall a deserved win for Thrapston maintaining
their 100% start to the season.
