Words fail me as I ponder how best to describe today’s
match and believe me that rarely happens. Looking at the
positives we scored one goal and created enough chances to
win but when you cannot convert from between 2 to 5 yards
out you will always come second best. That’s it second
best in a two horse race and to take the analogy further
all of our thoroughbreds were refusing to take any of the
fences on.
William Morrison scored the Thrapston consolation goal which
brought them back into the game after Weekley had taken the
lead when Thrapston failed to clear from a corner. However
on the stroke of half time Weekley scored the decisive blow
when breaking well from inside their own half.
This was a shocker as far as Thrapston were concerned and
it is hard to believe that so many will play so far below
their potential again. It was hoped that the hard lessons
were learnt against Rushden Rangers, but memory span does
appear to be an issue at the moment.
So meekly we rolled over for Weekley, lets pray we have
our “A” game on for Burton and we produce the
goods at Kingswoods – the destination of the league
title remains in the hands of the players so lets hope they
don’t drop it.
