Thrapston started their final game before the Xmas break
with purpose. Right from the start we took control and within
the first couple of minutes could (and probably should) have
been a couple of goals in front, however, after some super
and skilful individual play on the left hand side Luke Stevens
produced a great cross to allow Connor Ryan to score. Thrapston
then moved up a further gear and within the next 10 mins
Connor Ryan had scored a further 2 goals putting us into
a comfortable lead. Thrapston then sat back and took their
foot off the gas and were surprised when Ferrers broke and
scored just prior to the end of the first half making it
3 – 1 at half time.
The second half started and although Thrapston were on the
pitch in body they weren’t in mind and were under constant
pressure. Poor defending and the failure to clear their lines
resulted in Ferrers scoring two unanswered goals and drawing
the game level. Thrapston then tried to commit suicide
when they gave away a stupid penalty, however, only a fine
double save by “Man of the Match” Josh Smikle
prevented this from happening. A late substitution seemed
to ignite us and for the final 5 mins of the half we began
to pressurize the Ferrers goal, with 2 mins remaining Connor
Ryan scored his fourth when a scuffed shot tantalizingly
for Ferrers slipped past the keeper and into the net.
All in all a great game of football and definitely a game
of two halves!!!..................a draw would probably have
been a fair result but the “never say die attitude” was
there today for Thrapston to take advantage of.
