In an evenly contested game, it was Wollaston that took
the lead early in the first half after the Thrapston defence
failed to clear leaving the striker with an open goal. Thrapston
created many chances throughout the half but couldn't find
the net. Adam Tutty, his first game for the side, had the
best chance but somehow the Vics defence managed to scramble
the ball away off the goalmouth. Thrapston conceded a second
shortly before half time, the Thrapston keeper failing to
control an easy ball leaving an alert striker to tap in.
Half time 0 - 2.
The second half saw Thrapston dominate possession for most
of the period, creating plenty of chances with both Kai Robinson
and Adam Tutty going close. Thrapston were rewarded with
a goal after 15 minutes play, James Barlow shooting from
15 yards after some good work down the left by Jason Styles.
Thrapston's tails were up and pressed for the equaliser,
but Wollaston held on, scoring on the break in the final
minutes to give them a flattering 1 - 3 score line.
This performance was probably one of Thrapston's
best despite the final result with plenty of passing and
the team will feel there is a chance in the return fixture
next week.
