Thrapston finally managed a win at home, with a convincing
10 – 1 victory over bottom team Boro Alliance Cougars.
Thrapston were 2 – 0 up after ten minutes, Jason Styles
opening the scoring and Sam Nowlan finishing off a goal mouth
scramble after a free kick from Josh Catchpole. Ryan Gavin
then added a further three goals along with Jason Styles
and Josh Catchpole to make the score 7 – 0 at half
time. With a number of substitutions made by the home side
at the start of the second half, Boro came out fighting and
were rewarded for their efforts with a penalty after ten
minutes. Thrapston didn’t sit back though, scoring
a further three goals, Jason Styles with his hat trick to
match Ryan Gavin’s in the first half, Sean Blomley,
who was pushed forward from defence, and Ryan Gavin who completed
the rout shortly before the end. An excellent lesson in finishing,
an aspect of the game that has been lacking all season.
Man of the Match – Kai Robinson for his tireless work
in midfield.
