Thrapston started well, dominating the first ten minutes,
with the home side creating a number of goal-scoring opportunities
only the keeper, striker’s misses and the post keeping
the score level. After twenty minutes, Great Oakley had their
first attack of the half resulting in a corner, which they
scored from after the Thrapston keeper could only parry the
cross. Within five minutes Thrapston were level, Jason Styles
scoring, but were behind again shortly after; the home side
not managing to clear again from a corner. Thrapston continued
to create chances with Josh Catchpole hitting the bar with
a good shot and James Barlow hitting the post directly from
a corner. Thrapston eventually scored the equaliser after
a good run on the right from Jason Styles who finished well.
Half time 2 - 2.
The second half saw Thrapston take control, although it
took fifteen minutes before the goals came; Ryan Gavin scoring
well after two or three previous attempts went high or wide.
Five minutes later, Kai Robinson took the ball down the left
hand wing and crossed for substitute Sam Nowlan to slot the
ball home. With Oakley tiring, Thrapston took full advantage
with Josh Catchpole and Ryan Gavin finishing well. With the
final whistle near, Josh Catchpole scored a further two goals
to get his hat-trick making the final score 8 - 2.
