After our earlier fixture in the season had ended
in a draw we were very keen to put the Reds to the sword
today. Playing against the wind and uphill we found it
difficult to get going against a well organised Reds. With
the midfield pushing forward in pursuit of an opener we
got caught on the break and only a good save from Kern
kept the score at 0 - 0. 5 minutes later and again we get
caught pushing forward but this time it ended in a
goalmouth scramble with the outcome resulting in the Reds
taking a 0 - 1 lead. Alistair on for Scott. After
the shock of conceding only our 6th goal of the season
we started to play and put the Reds on the back foot but
couldn't break the Reds down. Half time 0 - 1.
2nd Half. Jack on for Liam. With a change in tactics
and with the wind and slope behind us we tore at the Reds
putting their defence under immense pressure. A great ball
from Alistair to Max who takes the ball past 2 defenders
and chips the keeper to level the score. 1 - 1. With our
tails now up the Reds were starting to crack. From a scramble
on the edge of the Reds box the ball fell to Max
who cut inside and blasted the ball in the bottom corner
to put us 2 - 1 up. Final score 2 - 1.
A bit slow to get going this week but a good recovery
against a good side well done!
