Weekley Rovers Purple 1 v Thrapston Town
2
Spring was in the air today and also in the step of the
Thrapston players after last week’s victory. They approached
this game with fellow mid-tablers Weekley knowing that if
they approached the game in the right manner, then victory
would surely follow.
In the first half, Town were playing down a sizable slope.
This, together with some fine link up play and robust challenges
conspired to make Town dominant, with keeper vitue a spectator
throughout.
However, chances were spurned and aside from a Devente Hodgon
goal – a well taken finish chasing a through ball,
they had no more to show for their domination at the break.
In the second half, Town doubled their advantage when Alsop
and Hodgson combined and the latter smashed the ball home
from the edge of the box.
Then Weekley got a goal back, and a foot hold in the match.
The tireless work of Mssrs Morson, Davis and Wordingham was
keeping Town ahead, but only just, while at the other end
chances again came and went, without being converted. Town
did think they had secured the points with a “is it
over the line or not” moment, but alas a goal was not
awarded. So in the end Town were hanging on, but equally
looking the more likely to score.
Final score Thrapston Town Two, Weekley Rovers Purple One
MOTM – Like last week many candidates today, including
several players asked to play out of position due to injuries
and who did so with pride and commitment to the team. However,
the MOTM today, for both his workrate and battling, but also
his creativity, went to Jordan Davis
